It's fun to play with Ajax

I've been playing around with a mockup of a WordPress theme that uses jQuery to load almost everything. I've built in Ajax threaded comments, Ajax search, and all of the internal pages are loaded using Ajax, and all without using plugins. It's something that's interesting to do, but something that sadly isn't easy to support for browsers without XMLHttpRequest capabilities, and indeed without JavaScript enabled.

I don't think I'll be implementing it on my main blog, but I'm considering releasing it as a WordPress theme - once it's polished a lil' bit. Go play with the Ajax-y goodness over at http://dev.aelabs.net/.

My posts also seem to be getting shorter and more full of crap, so I'm going to do my best to write some full length and interesting stuff here. I'm probably going to mess around with the threaded comment system on my own blog now I've seen how easy it is to implement, and perhaps write my own Ajax comment system.

I've also been playing around with a new home page for SimpleStats - one that kind of sells it in a subtle way. Obviously I need to fine tune it, but this is eventually what it will look something like when I unleash it to the world:- http://simplestats.net/?n. That is, granting that I don't feel like killing the whole thing after I've got some folks to beta test it.
