Spotify

I jumped on the Spotify band wagon just 4 days ago, partly because I didn't fully understand what it was and partly because I couldn't be bothered to go through the account creating service. I thought if it was any good, it would have an open player - just like last.fm does.

When I did finally take the time to sign up, I was totally impressed. Spotify combines free music with onobstructive adverts, and it has what seems like an exhaustive library of most of the signed artists in the world. All to listen to whenever, for free.

It's seriously awesome. Ignoring the adverts promoting safe sex between every 10 or so songs, the advertising is pretty unnoticeable. When the audio adverts start rolling, they're short and sweet, and it reminds me of an on demand commercial radio station. Except better.

I love the iTunes store like links, and I love the way Spotify makes it easy as they can to access music without actually having it on your computer, through the use of Windows shortcuts and playlists inside the app itself. It will also automatically update your Windows Live Messenger personal message with the currently playing track, and scrobble to last.fm.

What I don't like about it is the way it looks like a Mac OS program. I'm not hating it as much as iTunes, as Spotify seems to pull of the interface while keeping it really fast and responsive.
